Position: Controller / Accounting Manager – Manufacturing Industry
Our client, a leader in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a hands-on Controller / Accounting Manager to oversee all financial functions and lead a small accounting team in a fast-paced production environment. This is a key leadership role that supports plant operations by providing accurate financial insights, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accounting professionals.
Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and company policy.
Collaborate with plant management on budgeting, forecasting, and operational cost analysis.
Monitor manufacturing costs, work-in-process, and inventory valuations to ensure accurate cost accounting.
Conduct inventory audits and lead cycle count processes in coordination with operations and supply chain.
Partner with external CPA for annual tax preparation and audit processes.
Maintain effective banking relationships and manage cash flow reporting and forecasting.
Analyze variances in production costs and provide actionable insights to improve margins.
Continuously evaluate and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial systems.
Support ERP utilization and integration with accounting functions.
Assist executive leadership in strategic financial planning and operational decision-making.
Handle various administrative and office duties related to finance and compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required); CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures, inventory accounting, and job costing.
Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel; ERP/MRP system experience is a plus.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
