A client's Pittsburgh office is seeking a highly motivated, experienced paralegal to provide support for all levels of attorneys in our Product Liability practice area.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing the lifecycle of active matters/cases and monitoring case progress.
- Timely ordering, following up, ensuring receipt, and summarizing of medical, employment, academic, tax, and insurance company records.
- Preparing general motions, pleadings, subpoenas, and other documents as requested.
- Assisting with the response to discovery requests.
- Assisting with document reviews on eDiscovery platforms.
- Organizing factual data in multi-district litigation.
- Deposition and trial preparation by way of:
- Summarizing fact and expert witness depositions;
- Identifying, compiling, researching, and analyzing information prior to preparing reports and exhibits;
- Preparing case files, binders, summaries, and other paper/electronic case materials such as witness binders, pre-trial binders, and compilation of trial exhibits; and
- Coordinating and preparing witnesses (fact and expert) for testimony at trial and depositions.
- Electronic filing of pleadings such as appearances, answers, and all pretrial and dispositive motions in state and federal courts.
- Logging and entering in billable time to Prolaw billing system.
The ideal candidate must have the following skills for consideration:
- At least 5 years’ experience supporting attorneys in complex litigation areas such as products liability, class actions, multi-district litigation, commercial litigation, and personal injury.
- Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Experience with county, state, and federal courts, including knowledge of CM/ECF filing.
- Strong attention to detail in all work.
- Ability to manage multiple files and to prioritize workloads to effectively meet all deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, staff, and clients.
- Forward thinking, organized, and a team player.
- Ability to independently solve problems and exercise sound judgment with minimal direction.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with litigation technology applications such as eDiscovery Point, Case Notebook, and Relativity.
- Experience with iManage and Prolaw a plus.
