Job Description

I am a recruiter specializing in the food manufacturing industry. I’m contacting today because we have a client that has asked us to confidentially search for a full-time Multi-Site Plant Manager, for their facility south of Madison. This dairy company has been in business for 40 years and are growing significantly, adding a new position. They are looking for someone with significant plant management experience and maintenance management experience, and able to oversee 4 manufacturing facilities. This position is ideal for someone who prefers to manage from the floor, not an office, and enjoys mentoring personnel. Duties and responsibilities:

  • Serve as a leader for 4 plants encompassing mentoring and accountability of other managers.
  • Mentor managers and ensure accountability and compliance with all operations and regulations
  • Accountable for production costs, labor utilization, yield, results of Operations Cost Improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures adherence to the Company’s Food Safety requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices, including audit targets.
  • Continuously improve the reduction of operating costs.
  • Maintain and build a productive and po employee relations environment through effective implementation of positive employee relations initiatives.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements Capital Improvement for plant, including the preparation and execution of a Capital Plant budget.
  • Responsible for preparing and executing plant overhead budgets, and direct product cost targets.
  • Meet or exceed customer service level targets through the synchronization of process/activities with all functional area processes, from demand planning through to the delivery to the customer.
  • Manage the performance of the hourly and salaried team through effective implementation of Human Resources processes and policies and all initiatives.
  • Set and meet all Health and Safety targets.
  • Support Marketing and Product Development on new product initiatives.
  • Maintains and applies knowledge through compliance with GFSI, FDA, and SQF.
  • Assurance, Food Safety and customer specifications on a day-to-day basis.

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in plant management or company-wide operations management within the food manufacturing industry
  • Experience training and mentoring management and staff
  • Dairy/Cheese background preferred, food background required
  • Knowledge of company products, production processes and product standards
  • Ability to execute plans/projects through others
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and enterprises resource planning (ERP) program
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
