Project Manager – Structural Steel Fabrication
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee structural steel fabrication projects from award through final delivery. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the structural steel fabrication industry and a strong understanding of fabrication processes, scheduling, customer communication, and project execution. Experience with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code specifications is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple structural steel fabrication projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate project schedules with detailing, purchasing, production, quality control, and shipping.
- Review contracts, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Monitor budgets, change orders, RFIs, and project documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, engineers, and general contractors.
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate with shop personnel to resolve fabrication issues and maintain production flow.
- Attend project meetings and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with AWS welding standards, project specifications, and company quality procedures.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication project management.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and shop operations.
- Experience interpreting structural steel drawings and contract documents.
- Experience with AWS D1.5 specifications is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with fabrication management software such as Tekla PowerFab, FabSuite, or similar is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing bridge fabrication or DOT projects.
- Familiarity with AISC certification requirements and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.5 welding codes.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
