GPAC has partnered with a respected law firm seeking a litigation associate to join its insurance defense practice. This firm is known for its strong reputation, supportive culture, and commitment to delivering high-quality legal representation to its clients.

Position Overview

The firm is seeking an attorney with insurance defense or civil litigation experience to handle a diverse caseload that may include personal injury, premises liability, property damage, construction defect, and professional liability matters. This role offers significant responsibility, client interaction, and involvement in case strategy from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage insurance defense matters through all phases of litigation

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex issues

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Appear at court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations

  • Develop and implement case strategy with partners and clients

  • Negotiate settlements when appropriate

  • Maintain organized case files and meet litigation deadlines

  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

  • Active membership in the California State Bar

  • 2+ years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation preferred

  • Experience with California state court procedures

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Ability to manage multiple cases with minimal supervision

  • Professional judgment and attention to detail
