Job Description

The Flexo Finishing Supervisor supports production floor level hands-on leadership for the postproduction operations including rewind, table, packing, and final packaging of product. The Flexo Finishing Supervisor's primary responsibility is to guide post-production personnel regarding daily tasks for off-press finishing of Label and Card products with an emphasis on continuous improvement in efficiency and product quality. The Finishing Supervisor will provide cross functional leadership to teammates performing back-end tasks of rewinding printed rolls, table work to finish rolls, and final packaging of product.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the Finishing area and personnel
    • Provide hands-on leadership and support for post-production team members including rewinders, packers and catchers to maximize efficiency of post-production activities that support efficient finishing operations.
  • Assist Press Operators
    • Work as the liaison between press operators and Finishing support functions to ensure proper support of operation of flexographic presses operating in on-press pack-out conditions.
  • Facilitate Intra-Pressroom Communication
    • Acts as first line of communication regarding Label Finishing issues or other problems that impede team members from achieving expected results and/or goals. Works closely with the other area Supervisors to maximize pressroom efficiency.
  • Supervisory Back-up
    • In the event of another area Supervisor not being available, the Finishing Supervisor will assist in their absence.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & KEY MUST-HAVES ARE:

  • Board Flexographic printing experience including post-production functions of rewinding, table work, packaging
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team, supervisors and managers.
  • Ability to problems solve, including determining root cause, and take action to resolve production related issues, including trouble-shoot equipment or processes.
  • Basic computer aptitude with ability to use computers as necessary in the operation of equipment or as a tool for process support and documentation.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, follow verbal and written instructions dealing with dimensions and quantity.
  • Level of work activity is usually heavy involving lifting and exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally with the aid of lifting equipment, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
