A respected, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Structural Engineering Practice Leader to lead and expand its structural engineering team in the Greater Chicago market.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced structural professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, team development, client engagement, and business growth. The ideal candidate will help shape the future of a growing structural practice while mentoring engineers, managing complex projects, and strengthening client relationships throughout the region.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and mentor a talented structural engineering team across the Greater Chicago area.
- Provide strategic direction for the structural practice, including staffing, workload planning, and team development.
- Manage and oversee structural engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry contacts.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities throughout the Chicago market.
- Support proposals, interviews, project pursuits, and client presentations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across offices and service lines.
- Help establish long-term growth strategies for the structural engineering group.
- Promote a culture focused on technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE license preferred.
- Proven experience leading teams, mentoring engineers, and managing projects.
- Strong background in structural design and consulting engineering.
- Experience developing client relationships and supporting business development.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
