Traveling Construction Superintendent Position Summary
The Traveling Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing on-site construction activities across multiple project locations nationwide. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader and coordinates subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all phases of construction from ground-up through closeout
Travel to various project sites as assigned (often 75–100% travel)
Supervise subcontractors and field personnel to ensure productivity and quality
Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager
Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations
Enforce OSHA and company safety standards
Coordinate inspections with local municipalities and regulatory agencies
Manage site logistics, including material deliveries and equipment usage
Conduct jobsite meetings and maintain daily reports
Identify and resolve field issues proactively
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent (commercial, industrial, retail, or similar projects)
Willingness and ability to travel extensively
Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and safety regulations
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.)
OSHA 30 certification preferred
Strong leadership and communication skills
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Experience
Experience managing multi-site or nationwide projects
Ground-up construction experience
Experience in fast-track or tenant improvement projects
Background in retail, hospitality, healthcare, or industrial construction
Work Environment
Primarily on construction job sites
Exposure to varying weather conditions
Long hours, including occasional weekends as needed
Travel required (may include extended stays out of state)
