Job Description

Senior Chemical Engineer

Energy / Power Generation | Confidential Search

gpac is partnered with a well-established energy and power generation organization that is actively hiring a Senior Chemical Engineer to support a large-scale operating facility in Montana.

This is a hands-on, plant-facing role — not a lab or R&D position. This person will be directly involved in plant operations, water systems, and capital/maintenance projects that keep the facility running safely and efficiently.

This team is specifically looking for someone coming out of a real plant environment — think wastewater, utilities, or manufacturing — where you’ve owned or supported industrial water treatment systems and understand what it takes to keep operations running day-to-day.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Supporting engineering teams with specifications, cost estimates, and project scope development

• Leading plant chemistry and industrial water/wastewater treatment programs

• Ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards

• Providing technical expertise on water systems, treatment processes, and plant chemistry

• Supporting maintenance and capital project execution

• Reviewing drawings, vendor data, and equipment performance

• Analyzing data and preparing reports and recommendations

• Working closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams

• Evaluating vendors and supporting equipment selection

• Conducting site visits and gathering field data

What They’re Looking For (Read Carefully):

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering REQUIRED

7+ years of chemical engineering experience (this is not entry-level)

Industrial wastewater / water treatment experience REQUIRED

• Background in power generation, utilities, or heavy manufacturing environments

• Must come from a plant/operations environment — NOT lab or research-based roles

• Strong understanding of regulatory and environmental compliance

• Must be based in the U.S.

Why This Role:

• Stable organization tied to critical infrastructure

• Highly visible role with real impact on operations

• Mix of hands-on plant work + engineering projects

• Strong cross-functional collaboration

• Long-term growth opportunity
