Job Description

Our company is hiring an experienced Commercial Construction Financial Controller! Must have a minimum of 3+ years of experience, ready to onboard and add value to the team.

 Expectations of Controller

• Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

• Manage and coordinate with outsourced functions for Company and the related entities.

• Oversee and direct the operations of the accounting department, including the continued evaluation and improvement of the current organizational structure adequate for achieving the company goals and objectives

• Maintain and implement an active and accurate monthly work-in-process system, including the development of the internal information systems necessary to supply the data needed to properly track WIP. This would include internal systems to accurately track progress billings, including purchase orders issued and filled but not yet invoiced by the vendor and job cost labor specifically allocated to individual jobs for each WIP monthly period.

• Prepare annual budgets that meet management’s profit goals from which proper pricing multipliers are developed and managed with the estimator(s) to assure they are achieved.

• Track the budget’s performance to plan and modify bidding and pricing strategies to keep profit goals on track

• Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures

• Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

• Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable

• Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly

• Process payroll in a timely manner

• Ensure that periodic reconciliations of all accounts are completed

• Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis

• Maintain the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system

• Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

• Issue timely and complete financial statements for management and accountant. Hold management accountable for regular and scheduled review.

• Coordinate the preparation of quarterly and annual reports.

• Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations

• Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics

• Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts

• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

• Provide for a system of management cost reports

• Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

• Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

• Coordinate and implementation of Human Resources functions within the company (benefits, PTO, renumeration, bonus/profit share, etc.)
