Insurance Coverage Attorney (Litigation)

Established law firm is seeking an Insurance Coverage Attorney with at least 5 years of experience to join its litigation practice. Candidates may be considered across multiple office locations, including St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, and Dallas.

This role is ideal for a proactive and detail-oriented attorney with experience in complex insurance coverage disputes within the commercial insurance sector.

Responsibilities

  • Handle insurance coverage litigation matters from inception through resolution

  • Analyze and interpret commercial insurance policies across various lines of coverage

  • Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and other coverage-related evaluations

  • Conduct factual investigations and manage discovery in complex litigation matters

  • Take and defend depositions and participate in mediation and settlement discussions

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with clients regarding coverage positions and strategy

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance coverage litigation preferred

  • Experience with commercial insurance coverage matters, including:

    • Commercial General Liability (CGL)

    • Pollution Liability

    • Marine

    • Directors & Officers (D&O)

    • Professional Liability

    • Errors & Omissions (E&O)

  • Strong experience reviewing and interpreting insurance policies

  • Experience with all phases of complex commercial litigation

  • Excellent written, analytical, and client communication skills

  • Strong academic background and attention to detail

  • Licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
