ENTRY WRITER

The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for preparing and processing documentation required for the import and export of goods, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role involves working closely with customs brokers, importers, exporters, and government agencies to ensure timely and accurate entry processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file customs entries for imported goods using information provided by importers and exporters.
- Ensure entries comply with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other government agencies (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.).
- Verify shipment documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
- Classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Calculate duties, tariffs, and taxes.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, carriers, and clients to facilitate customs clearance.
- Respond to Customs requests for information (CF-28s and CF-29s) and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Track shipments and maintain accurate records of entries and releases.
- Stay current on changes to customs regulations, trade agreements, and import/export laws.
- Communicate with clients regarding entry status, requirements, and documentation needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor’s degree in logistics, international business, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or international logistics.
- Working knowledge of U.S. import regulations and HTS classification.
- Experience with customs software such as Descartes, SAP GTS, or similar.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Customs Broker License (preferred but not required).
SALARY: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00
