Job Description

A longstanding Nursery is looking to hire a Head Grower. This company offers a competitive salary based on experience, benefits, PTO, and so much more! 

 

Head Grower Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Inventory manager to help maintain quality and to consult with them and sales manager as to when to turn on new plant material on availability
  • Develop written crop protocols for all varieties including watering practices, temperature regulations, preventative spray program, growth regulation program, pest potentials, pinching/trimming requirements, fertilization requirements, optimal light levels, etc.
  •  Ensure compliance with all OSHA, state and federal regulations
  • Ensure that the proper timings are in the plan for all crops in all seasons
  •  Help maintain relationships with vendors and seek out new when needed

Head Grower Requirements:

  • Experience with ornamental perennials, shrubs, and trees in containers
  • Advanced plant and horticultural knowledge
  • Negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently, yet take a lead role in a team oriented structure
  •  Proficient Computer Skills
  •  Excellent verbal communication and listening skills
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds
  • High level of organizational and planning skills with specific ability to prioritize activities
