Job Description

A confidential banking client in Central Illinois is seeking a motivated Credit Analyst. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with bankers and contribute in a community-focused environment. While primarily based in-office, hybrid work may be possible depending on qualifications.

The Credit Analyst will assess the creditworthiness of applicants across commercial, real estate, agricultural (with an emphasis on ag loan underwriting), and consumer loans. You’ll prepare detailed credit presentations, analyze financial statements and tax returns, evaluate collateral, and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit quality through financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and collateral values.
  • Prepare financial spreads, ratio analyses, and cash flow models.
  • Develop professional credit presentations outlining strengths, weaknesses, and risks.
  • Collaborate with loan officers and communicate with clients as needed.
  • Recommend credit risk ratings and document policy exceptions.
  • Assist with loan reviews, portfolio monitoring, and audits.
  • Participate as a non-voting member of Loan Committee meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics.
  • 2–4+ years of credit analysis experience, preferably in commercial banking.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, economics, and credit techniques.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills, including financial modeling.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $65,000 – $90,000 (commensurate with experience).
