Job Description

A well-established Calgary law firm is seeking an Insurance Defence Associate with 2–8 years of experience to join its growing litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a broad range of insurance defence matters while collaborating with experienced litigators in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage insurance defence files from inception through resolution.
  • Represent insurers and insured clients in a variety of litigation matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct examinations for discovery, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Attend chambers applications, pre-trial conferences, and court appearances.
  • Prepare for and assist with trials and arbitrations.
  • Develop litigation strategy while maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta, or eligible for admission.
  • 2–8 years of insurance defence litigation experience.
  • Strong advocacy, legal research, and drafting skills.
  • Experience managing litigation files with increasing autonomy.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client service skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
