Public School Law Attorney – Special Education Focus

A highly respected firm is seeking an experienced School Law Attorney with a strong background in Special Education to join its growing Public Law Team in Pittsburgh, PA.

This role offers the opportunity to serve as solicitor and special counsel to school districts, advising boards and administrators on complex legal and governance matters that directly impact public education.

🔹 What You’ll Do:

• Advise school districts on Special Education Law (IDEA & Section 504) – minimum 5 years’ experience required
• Counsel on student rights, policies, and discipline matters
• Handle school employment and labor law issues
• Support collective bargaining negotiations
• Provide guidance on construction and facility planning
• Advise on financial solutions for districts
• Attend and present at evening school board meetings
• Counsel boards and administrators on governance and compliance matters

🔹 What We’re Looking For:

• Preferred 7+ years of experience in school law (will consider fewer years if heavily concentrated in special education)
• Strong working knowledge of IDEA and Section 504 compliance
• Experience advising school boards and district leadership
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to attend evening board meetings as needed
• Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania
