General Manager of Transportation Sales & Logistics

Richmond, Virginia Area | On-Site | Up to $160K Base + Bi-annual bonuses

NO RELOCATIONS PLEASE.  MUST RESIDE IN THE AREA. POSITION IS ON-SITE

We are seeking an experienced, high-impact General Manager of Transportation & Logistics to lead and oversee transportation operations, brokerage, sales, and team performance for a growing logistics organization in the Richmond, Virginia area.

This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to C-Suite and will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, customer growth, profitability, and long-term strategic expansion.

We are looking for a hands-on transportation leader who has built relationships, managed teams, grown revenue, and understands the logistics industry from the ground up.

What You Will Oversee

  • Transportation operations across multiple terminals and warehouse locations
  • Freight brokerage operations and carrier development
  • FTL and LTL sales growth initiatives
  • Customer relationship management and business development
  • Transportation staff, operations teams, sales personnel, and leadership development
  • KPI performance, profitability, service metrics, and operational efficiency
  • Strategic planning alongside executive leadership

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily transportation and brokerage operations with a strong focus on execution and accountability
  • Develop and grow strategic customer relationships
  • Drive new business development and revenue growth in FTL, LTL, and brokerage services
  • Mentor, develop, and lead transportation and sales teams
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on operational strategy and expansion
  • Improve processes, margins, carrier relationships, and customer service performance
  • Travel locally to terminals, warehouses, and customer locations as needed
  • Maintain a strong presence with customers, employees, and operational leadership teams

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, and freight brokerage
  • Strong hands-on experience in:
    • Freight brokerage
    • FTL and LTL sales
    • Transportation operations
    • Team leadership and management
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing transportation and sales teams
  • Experience managing customer relationships and growing revenue
  • Strong operational and financial acumen
  • Executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with C-Suite leadership
  • Highly motivated, driven, and capable of leading from the front

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary up to $160,000
