Job Summary

A growing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee wet utility and underground infrastructure projects throughout the Lynchburg, VA area. This role is responsible for managing daily field operations, coordinating crews and subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with underground wet utilities including water, sewer, storm drain, and utility infrastructure projects. This position works closely with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, and field personnel to successfully deliver complex civil utility projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily field operations for wet utility construction projects
• Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, and material deliveries
• Manage installation of water, sewer, storm drain, and underground utility systems
• Maintain production schedules and ensure project milestones are achieved
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards
• Review plans, utility profiles, and project specifications
• Conduct daily site meetings and communicate progress with management teams
• Monitor quality control, production, and site productivity

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of Superintendent experience in heavy civil or wet utility construction
• Experience with underground water, sewer, and storm utility installation
• Strong understanding of excavation, grading, trench safety, and utility coordination
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• OSHA certification preferred
