Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of heavy industrial equipment used in material handling and size reduction applications. This role will focus on mechanical design from concept through production, including modeling, drafting, testing, and continuous improvement of engineered systems. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large rotating equipment and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material selection, and design for reliability in demanding industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings for new and existing mechanical components and assemblies.

  • Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, sales, and service, to ensure product functionality, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

  • Lead or contribute to product improvement initiatives, including performance upgrades, cost reductions, and manufacturability enhancements.

  • Assist in prototype assembly, testing, and field evaluations.

  • Create and maintain bills of materials, technical documentation, and design records.

  • Provide technical support during production and address design-related issues as they arise.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and internal quality systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably with industrial machinery or heavy equipment.

  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor).

  • Knowledge of GD&T, FEA, and manufacturing techniques such as welding, machining, and casting.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
