GPAC has partnered with a thriving, K-8 school located in Minneapolis to identify their next School Social Worker for the 2025-2026 academic year.
As a member of the school's Guidance team, this is a high visibility position works with students, faculty and administration, families, and others within the community. This school is seeking candidates who demonstrate professional excellence with an unwavering commitment to helping all students access the resources and support they need to succeed. Candidates with a Social Work degree and with experience supporting special needs students are especially encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include:
- Counsels students on their academic, personal, and social development, mediates issues,
- Coordinates student academic and behavioral plans, implements necessary schedule changes for students throughout the year,
- Facilitates grade level student focused meetings, arranges and conducts parent/teacher staffing's/conferences,
- Identifies and monitors behavioral/emotional/academic needs of students, including those with special needs,
- Provides individual and group sessions to assist with academic, emotional, social and personal issues relating to students, develops and
- Implements SEL curriculum for social, emotional and cognitive development, including leading lessons and PD focused on social skills and other SEL topics
- Provides individual, developmental, preventative, remedial, short term and/or crisis counseling,
- Identifies community and school resources, maintains lists and makes referrals as necessary, identifies and develops plan for transition of all students at end of year,
- Supervision of students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips, school assemblies.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 2 years of experience working in a similar School Social Worker capacity with children
- Must have excellent communication and listening skills along with organizational, computer, and multitasking proficiency.
- Ability to effectively work in sensitive and confidential situations required.
- Experience and aptitude for successfully working with a highly diverse student population.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or comparable program of study and MN licensure.
