Job Description

Position Summary A Project Electrical Engineer will manage and deliver electrical engineering design across building projects, from conceptual design through construction. This includes power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and coordination with other building systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design: power distribution systems, lighting design, emergency power, fire alarm/notification systems, and related auxiliary systems.

  • Produce calculations, sizing of feeders, load analysis, short-circuit, arc-flash, grounding, etc.

  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and perform reviews for constructability and coordination with other disciplines (mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural).

  • Manage project scope, budget, and schedule for electrical portion; work with clients and contractors.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, energy codes, and sustainability standards.

  • Oversee site visits, commissioning, and construction administration to ensure installed systems meet design intent.

  • Mentor and coordinate with electrical designers/drafters; coordinate with peers in other disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.

  • PE license preferred.

  • 3-8+ years of experience in electrical building systems design.

  • Strong experience with lighting design, power distribution, emergency systems.

  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA, utility coordination, etc.

  • Familiarity with modeling tools, BIM/Revit, lighting simulation software.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills; able to lead projects and coordinate with teams.
