JOB DESCRIPTION

A respected and growing structural steel fabricator and erector in the Cincinnati Metro Area is seeking an experienced Steel Detailing Manager to lead its detailing department. This individual will oversee detailing operations, manage project workflows, maintain quality standards, and serve as a key liaison between project management, engineering, fabrication, and field operations.

This position is ideal for a seasoned steel detailer looking to take the next step into leadership or an experienced detailing manager seeking an opportunity with a stable and growing organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the structural steel detailing department

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of steel detailers

  • Review shop drawings, erection drawings, and connection details for accuracy and completeness

  • Ensure detailing deliverables meet project schedules and fabrication requirements

  • Coordinate detailing priorities with project managers, engineers, fabrication personnel, and field operations

  • Establish and maintain detailing standards, procedures, and quality control processes

  • Review RFIs, change orders, revisions, and contract documents

  • Identify and resolve detailing conflicts, constructability issues, and fabrication concerns

  • Monitor detailing workloads and allocate resources across multiple projects

  • Support project kickoff meetings and provide technical expertise throughout project execution

  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and performance management of detailing staff

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase departmental efficiency and accuracy

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of structural steel detailing experience required

  • Experience managing detailers or leading detailing teams preferred

  • Proficiency with Tekla Structures, SDS/2, or similar steel detailing software

  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes

  • Experience reviewing and checking shop and erection drawings

  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings

  • Knowledge of AISC standards and industry best practices

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and team priorities simultaneously

  • Experience with miscellaneous metals detailing is a plus

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Base Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 DOE
