Position Summary:
Currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with solid litigation defense experience to support our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of litigation procedures, be proactive in anticipating attorney needs, and excel in a fast-paced, high-volume legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support attorneys in all phases of litigation defense, including pre-trial preparation, discovery, trial, and post-trial activities
Draft, proofread, and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence
Manage case files, ensuring proper documentation, organization, and compliance with court rules
Coordinate discovery requests and responses, including the collection and organization of documents
File legal documents with state and federal courts (both electronic and physical filing)
Maintain calendars for hearings, court deadlines, depositions, and other key litigation dates
Communicate with clients, courts, and other parties in a professional and confidential manner
Assist in trial preparation, including the creation of binders, witness lists, and exhibit organization
Conduct limited legal research and summarize findings, when needed
Perform general administrative duties including scheduling, billing assistance, and travel arrangements
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary with a focus in litigation defense
Familiarity with court procedures in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and/or West Virginia is a strong plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems (iManage, NetDocuments, etc.)
Experience with electronic filing systems such as PACER, CM/ECF, and state e-filing platforms
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of legal billing and timekeeping systems is a plus
