Assistant Project Manager – Structural Steel Erection
Job Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of structural steel erection projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow into a Project Manager role. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Field Engineer with a commercial general contractor or structural steel fabrication/erection company.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day management of structural steel erection projects.
- Coordinate with field superintendents, fabricators, subcontractors, and customers.
- Track project schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Assist with procurement, material deliveries, and equipment coordination.
- Attend project meetings and communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and schedules.
- Support field operations by helping resolve project issues and ensuring work progresses safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate project records and reports.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or Assistant Project Manager in commercial construction or structural steel.
- Experience with structural steel fabrication and/or erection is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction software is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
