Job Snapshot

Job Description

Job title: Feedlot Manager

Location: Northeast Nebraska (confidential; do not name town). Salary: $75,000+ DOE. Full-time, permanent.

About the operation

We're a growing commercial cattle feedlot in northeast Nebraska. We run about 10,000 head today and are expanding to 15,000. We're a close-knit team, and we're adding a hands-on leader who can own the feeding side as we grow.

The role

The Feedlot Manager runs day-to-day feeding and leads the feeding crew. You'll report to the General Manager, who handles animal health and the business side of the yard. You'll have real ownership of your area. We want someone who spots what needs doing and gets it done without waiting to be told, and who works as a strong partner to the GM.

What you'll do

- Run daily feeding, including bunk management, rations, and feed delivery

- Lead and develop the feeding crew, which is 4 people now and growing to 6

- Build and manage crew schedules and adjust them as needs change

- Keep feeding consistent and accurate, and track it well

- Keep feed equipment maintained and ready to run

- Work closely with the GM so feeding, animal health, and yard operations stay in step

- Help bring new pens and crew members online as we grow to 15,000 head

What we're looking for

- Feedlot experience, with time spent leading or running feeding

- Experience supervising and scheduling a crew

- A self-starter who is organized and can bring structure to a busy operation

- Flexible and adaptable when plans change, which happens a lot in a feedyard

- A team player who wants to own the feeding side and support the GM

- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not required

Why join us

- Competitive pay starting around $75,000, with room to go higher for the right person

- A growing operation with room to grow your role along with it

- Real responsibility, and a GM who values a capable partner
