Job Description

Job Opportunity: Employee Benefits Associate Attorney (2–5 Years)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)

Salary Range:(Commensurate with experience)

Are you an Employee Benefits attorney looking to take the next strategic step in your career? I am currently representing a premier firm in Pittsburgh seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join their sophisticated Labor & Employment and Employee Benefits practice.

This is an opportunity to move away from the "back room" and into a role characterized by meaningful client contact and high-level responsibility. Whether you are navigating complex executive compensation structures or advising on the benefits implications of a multi-million dollar M&A deal, you will be a key player in a practice with both a strong regional and national footprint.

The Role & Practice Focus

As an Associate in this group, you will advise a diverse portfolio of employers on the design, compliance, and administration of benefit plans. The firm’s collaborative culture ensures you’ll work cross-disciplinarily with corporate, tax, and employment teams.

Core Practice Areas include:

  • Plan Design & Compliance: Qualified retirement plans (401(k), pension), and health/welfare plans (medical, dental, disability).

  • Executive Compensation: Equity compensation (RSUs, stock options) and Section 409A compliance.

  • Regulatory Navigation: ERISA compliance, fiduciary governance, and COBRA/HIPAA/ACA matters.

  • Transactional Support: Due diligence and benefits integration for mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and review plan documents, amendments, and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs).

  • Provide day-to-day counseling on IRS and Department of Labor (DOL) requirements.

  • Assist with benefit plan audits and government inquiries.

  • Counsel clients on fiduciary duties, risk management, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2–5 years of dedicated experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law.

  • Bar Admission: Active Pennsylvania license (or the ability to obtain one promptly).

  • Skills: A strong working knowledge of ERISA is essential. You should possess sharp analytical abilities and the communication skills necessary to handle direct client interaction.

What’s Offered

  • Competitive Compensation DOE

  • Hybrid Flexibility: A modern, flexible in-office/remote structure that respects work-life balance.

  • Professional Growth: A clear track for advancement within a supportive, team-oriented culture.

*Confidential application process*
