Company Overview
A well-established construction company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects is seeking a Controller for their team. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and finance operations and support the business with accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls.

Position Summary
The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial functions for the company, supervising a team and ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting. This role requires deep experience in the construction industry, including job cost accounting, work-in-progress reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can partner with operations and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and job cost accounting

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Manage work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and percentage-of-completion reporting

  • Ensure accurate job costing and timely cost reporting for active projects

  • Lead the annual budget process and assist with forecasting and cash flow management

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures

  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and banking partners

  • Support executive leadership with financial analysis and reporting

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting/finance experience within the construction industry

  • Prior experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including WIP and job costing

  • Experience supervising and managing an accounting team

  • CPA license a plus, but not required

  • Experience with Sage 300 a plus, but not required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
