A well-established, Gulf Coast–based maritime law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing practice. The firm maintains a strong regional presence across Mississippi and Louisiana and represents clients in a wide range of maritime and admiralty matters.

Position Overview

The Associate Attorney will manage maritime and admiralty cases from inception through resolution. This role offers hands-on litigation experience, direct client interaction, and meaningful responsibility early on.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage maritime/admiralty cases from start to finish
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and memoranda
  • Handle discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Participate in mediations, hearings, and court appearances
  • Communicate directly with clients, adjusters, and opposing counsel
  • Conduct case evaluations and assist with litigation strategy
  • Assist in trial preparation and participate in trial when applicable
  • Maintain accurate billing and case documentation

Qualifications

  • Active license in one of the following -  LA, MS, or TX (in good standing)
  • 1+ years of experience in Maritime or Admiralty law required
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Deposition and courtroom experience preferred
  • Ability to independently manage files with minimal supervision
  • Professional, responsive, and client-focused mindset
