Job Description

Are you a steel estimator who knows both the shop side and the field side? A steel fabricator and erector serving the East Bay and Northern California is looking for an estimator to price structural and miscellaneous steel packages on light commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare competitive bids and proposals for light commercial, residential, and industrial projects
• Coordinate constructability and handoff with project managers, the shop, and field crews
• Take off quantities and build estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection
• Gather and evaluate quotes for detailing, erection, coatings, and freight
• Study plans and specs to flag scope gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with structural and miscellaneous metals packages
• Hands-on steel estimating background in both fabrication and erection
• Skilled at reading blueprints
• A plus: experience with Tekla EPM, SDS2, or similar estimating software
