Senior Project Engineer – Commercial Construction
Overview
A leading commercial general contractor is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support a growing portfolio of projects including retail shopping centers, creative office spaces, ground-up construction, remodels, and tenant improvements. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and ready to take on increased responsibility while working alongside experienced project management and field teams.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project coordination and documentation
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project logs
Support budgeting, cost tracking, and schedule updates
Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, and consultants to keep projects on track
Review plans and specifications to ensure scope alignment
Help maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with contract requirements
Participate in project meetings and assist with progress reporting
Support multiple projects including ground-up and tenant improvement work
Qualifications
4–8+ years of experience in commercial construction (Project Engineer or similar role)
Experience working on retail, office, or tenant improvement projects preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
