We are seeking a detail-oriented Asbestos Analyst to join a certified environmental laboratory in Michigan. This role is responsible for analyzing bulk, air, and/or soil samples for asbestos content using approved analytical methods while maintaining strict compliance with state and federal regulations.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a high level of integrity, and experience working in regulated laboratory environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform asbestos analysis using PLM and/or PCM methods (TEM experience a plus)

  • Analyze bulk building materials, air samples, and clearance samples

  • Accurately document and report analytical results in compliance with EPA, NESHAP, OSHA, and Michigan regulations

  • Maintain laboratory quality control standards and calibration records

  • Follow chain-of-custody, QA/QC, and lab safety protocols

  • Communicate findings clearly with project managers and clients when required

  • Assist with audits, proficiency testing, and method validation

Qualifications

Required:

  • Asbestos Analyst certification (PCM and/or PLM)

  • Knowledge of EPA AHERA and NESHAP methods

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

  • Ability to work independently in a lab setting

Preferred:

  • TEM analysis experience

  • Michigan-specific asbestos certification

  • Prior environmental laboratory experience

  • Familiarity with LIMS systems

Work Environment

  • Laboratory-based position

  • Full-time, weekday schedule (occasional overtime depending on project volume)

  • PPE and safety training provided
