Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Long Beach, CA
Industry: Commercial Construction (Retail Focus)

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a General Contractor in the Long Beach area. This role will oversee retail construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, including ground-up builds, remodels, and tenant improvements (TI). The ideal candidate has a proven track record managing projects independently and has progressed through roles of increasing responsibility within a General Contractor environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple retail construction projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time and within budget

• Lead projects from preconstruction, budgeting, and procurement through construction and closeout

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and cost controls

• Negotiate and manage subcontractor agreements and vendor relationships

• Coordinate with superintendents, field teams, architects, engineers, and clients

• Conduct project meetings and provide clear communication to stakeholders

• Ensure compliance with safety standards, local building codes, and company quality expectations

• Proactively identify and resolve project challenges

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager with a General Contractor

• Demonstrated experience managing retail construction projects, including:

  • Ground-up construction

  • Remodels

  • Tenant Improvements (TI)

• Career progression through roles of increasing responsibility (e.g., Project Engineer → Assistant PM → Project Manager)

• Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, contracts, and cost control

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Light industrial project experience is a plus
