Senior Safety Representative – Steel Erection
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Representative to support and enforce safety programs across steel erection projects. This role will partner closely with field leadership to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and promote a strong safety culture on complex structural steel and misc. metals projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and enforce safety programs on active steel erection job sites
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and hazard assessments
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards
- Support field teams with pre-task planning, JHAs, and toolbox talks
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective actions
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Ironworkers to drive safety performance
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and logs
- Assist in safety training and onboarding of field personnel
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with site-specific safety requirements
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of safety experience in steel erection or structural steel construction
- Strong knowledge of steel erection processes, fall protection, rigging, and crane operations
- OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500/510 preferred
- Proven ability to influence and engage field personnel at all levels
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed
