Job Overview – MEP Preconstruction Manager

Our client in Chicago, Illinois is seeking an MEP Preconstruction Manager specializing in MEP for diverse markets, including healthcare, hospitality, K-12, higher education, commercial office, and light industrial. This critical leadership role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on high-profile projects in the Chicago market.

Compensation: $130,000.00 – $160,000.00 + bonus + car allowance
Location: Chicago, Illinois – Onsite

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead MEP preconstruction efforts, including cost estimating, value engineering, and constructability analysis.
• Collaborate with teams to develop MEP design concepts, specifications, and cost-effective solutions for diverse markets.
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions, identify MEP requirements, and evaluate project feasibility and risks.
• Prepare detailed MEP cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages with accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing, quotes, and specifications for MEP systems.
• Analyze MEP design documents to identify gaps, resolve conflicts, and explore value engineering opportunities.
• Support procurement processes, including bid evaluations, vendor selection, and contract negotiations.
• Provide technical expertise on MEP design, installation, and integration throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards for MEP construction.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Construction Technology, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction, focusing on MEP systems design, preconstruction, or project management.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Proficiency in construction management tools like Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to MEP systems.
