Job Title: Construction Safety Officer/Coordinator
Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and passionate Construction Safety Officer to lead and champion our company's safety culture across all project sites. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, highly organized, and capable of inspiring safety accountability at every level of the organization. This role requires someone who can not only enforce safety protocols but also connect with field staff and management to drive continuous improvement in safety practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Training & Orientation:
Deliver compelling safety orientations and training sessions.
Confidently enforce consequences for non-compliance while maintaining trust and professionalism.
Develop engaging training materials, including visual aids and safety videos.
Communication & Collaboration:
Communicate clearly with field teams, supervisors, and management to ensure alignment on safety goals.
Participate in quarterly safety meetings and collaborate on non-compliance resolutions.
Inspection & Documentation:
Conduct daily site inspections and monthly safety audits with a keen eye for detail.
Identify and address safety hazards proactively, offering practical solutions tailored to field realities.
Maintain meticulous documentation of all inspections, incidents, and reports to ensure regulatory compliance.
Certification & Compliance Tracking:
Monitor and manage employee certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, aerial lift, laser, PAFs).
Ensure up-to-date site-specific safety plans and compliance with local and federal regulations.
Program Development:
Take ownership of developing and evolving the company’s safety program.
Implement safety protocols and track their effectiveness.
Anticipate potential safety risks and propose innovative solutions, such as software tools or incentive programs.
Field Engagement & Support:
Relate to field workers, understand their day-to-day challenges, and support them in maintaining safety standards.
Be a visible and approachable presence on job sites, fostering a culture of safety without alienation.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years experience in construction safety (preferred but not mandatory).
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate a wide range of personnel.
Solid organizational and time-management skills.
Working knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety regulations.
Proficient in writing detailed reports and using safety management tools/software.
Must have or be actively working toward CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification.
