Position Title: Quality Control Inspector (AWS CWI)

Employment Type: Full-Time



Position Overview:

We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Inspector to oversee quality assurance in the fabrication and/or erection of structural steel components for building construction and civil infrastructure projects, including bridges and transportation structures.

The candidate must hold an active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential and have direct inspection experience in structural steel applications, either in vertical construction or heavy civil environments. This role is responsible for verifying that all work meets industry codes, project specifications, and internal quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform visual inspections of welds, bolted connections, and structural steel assemblies in accordance with AWS D1.1, AISC, and applicable codes

  • Review fabrication and erection drawings to confirm conformance with project specifications

  • Conduct pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections for structural components

  • Verify material certifications, weld procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection records

  • Document non-conformances, generate inspection reports, and track corrective actions

  • Interface with fabricators, erectors, engineers, and general contractors to ensure quality expectations are met

  • Participate in third-party audits and client inspections as required

  • Support internal quality control initiatives and continuous improvement efforts


Required Qualifications:

  • Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience inspecting structural steel in building construction or civil infrastructure/bridge projects

  • Strong knowledge of AISC standards, AWS D1.1, and applicable codes and practices

  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication details

  • Familiarity with bolted connections, weld types, fit-up, and field erection tolerances
