Corporate Tax Associate/Counsel (Transactional & Funds): San Francisco, CA

A respected San Francisco business law firm is looking to add a corporate tax attorney with substantive transactional experience to their growing team. This is a rare seat that sits across two thriving practices, corporate/M&A and investment funds. You'll handle sophisticated deal and fund tax work on a collegial midsize platform, and compensation competes with the largest firms.

What they're looking for:

  • 5–8 years of corporate tax transactional experience (mid-level/senior associate or counsel)
  • Experience with mid-market M&A, joint ventures (including real estate JVs), and/or early-stage companies
  • Experience with partnership, corporate, and offshore entity taxation and complex financial transactions; fund experience (hedge, PE, VC, real estate) is a strong plus
  • J.D. from a Top 50 law school; law school transcripts required
  • Demonstrably superior legal writing skills
  • California bar admission, or eligibility to obtain it

Logistics:

  • Base salary: $310,000–$370,000, depending on experience
  • Works closely with the firm's tax, corporate/M&A, and investment adviser attorneys
  • Direct client contact with investment advisers and hedge, PE, VC, and real estate funds
