Corporate Cannabis Attorney – New York (NYC or Upstate)
We are seeking an experienced Corporate Cannabis Attorney with 5 to 8 years of practice to join a respected firm with offices in New York City and Upstate New York. This role is ideal for an attorney who is passionate about the cannabis industry and has a strong background in corporate law, commercial transactions, and contracts.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide legal counsel to clients in the cannabis sector on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and business strategy
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of agreements including licensing, commercial contracts, joint ventures, and vendor arrangements
• Advise on compliance with New York cannabis regulations and other applicable state and federal laws
• Assist clients with mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions
• Support clients in structuring business operations to ensure regulatory adherence and minimize risk
Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (JD) and active admission to the New York Bar
• 5 to 8 years of legal experience focused on corporate law, commercial transactions, and contracts
• Proven experience in the cannabis law sector required
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and ability to work in a complex, highly regulated industry
• Ability to collaborate with clients and colleagues across multiple practice areas
