Job Snapshot

Job Description

🏗 Commercial Construction Litigation Attorney

📍 Columbia, South Carolina
⚖️ 1800 Billable Requirement | Boutique Firm | Growth Opportunity

Why This Role Stands Out

  • 1800 annual billable requirement (reasonable + sustainable)

  • Established boutique with a strong reputation in construction litigation

  • Direct client interaction

  • Meaningful courtroom exposure

  • Clear path for growth (not a “forever associate” role)

  • Collegial, non-micromanaging environment

What You’ll Do

  • Handle commercial construction disputes from inception through resolution

  • Represent general contractors, subcontractors, developers, and owners

  • Draft and argue dispositive motions

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Manage discovery strategy

  • Participate in mediations and trials

  • Work directly with clients on strategy and case evaluation

This is not a document-review-heavy role — you’ll actually litigate.

What They’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of litigation experience

  • Experience with construction defect, contract disputes, delay claims, or complex commercial litigation

  • Comfortable running files with partner oversight

  • Strong writing and courtroom skills

  • South Carolina Bar admission (or ability to waive in)

Culture & Environment

This is a boutique firm where:

  • Partners are accessible

  • Associates are trusted

  • Billables are realistic

  • Work is sophisticated but not bureaucratic

No layers of red tape. No rigid corporate structure. Just strong legal work and a collaborative team.

Who This Is Perfect For

  • An associate at a large firm who wants more hands-on litigation

  • A mid-level litigator looking to specialize in construction

  • Someone billing 2000+ hours who wants sustainability

  • An attorney who wants real partnership potential in Columbia
