gpac is partnering with a local CPA firm – this is a mid-sized public accounting firm in Farmington, CT seeking an experienced Tax Supervisor. The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of public accounting experience focusing on tax – industry guidance suggests accounting managers typically have at least five years of experience. This full-time, on-site role involves overseeing tax compliance and leading a small tax team. The Tax Supervisor will manage complex tax engagements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee preparation and review of individual, corporate (S-Corp/C-Corp), and partnership tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax laws.
- Serve as primary advisor on tax issues, staying current on tax law changes and identifying planning opportunities.
- Lead tax engagements from start to finish, including client communication and coordination with auditors or consultants as needed.
- Mentor and review work of junior staff, providing guidance and feedback to foster their professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5–8 years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax. Candidates with this level of experience meet common industry benchmarks.
- Certification: CPA certification preferred or actively pursuing. (We encourage and support staff working toward the CPA.)
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of tax compliance and review for individuals, corporations, and partnerships. Deep understanding of federal and multi-state tax regulations is required.
- Client Management: Excellent client communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships. Comfortable liaising with clients to gather information and explain tax matters clearly.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead engagements and teams. Candidates should have experience mentoring junior accountants or a strong interest in developing others.
