URGENTLY SEEKING – Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Law Firm Experience REQUIRED

We are urgently seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer with direct law firm experience to join our collaborative, mid-sized firm. This is not a corporate COO role — this is a hands-on operational leadership position inside a structured professional services environment.

Our firm is led by a Managing Shareholder and supported by Department Chairs and a Board of Directors. We need a steady, strategic operational leader who understands the inner workings of a law firm and can bring structure, accountability, and high-level execution to daily operations.

Who You Are

10–20 years of operational leadership experience in a LAW FIRM (REQUIRED)
✔ Proven experience working directly with Managing Partners, Shareholders, and Boards
✔ Strong understanding of law firm governance, reporting structures, and compensation models
✔ Strategic thinker who can also execute at a detailed administrative level
✔ Highly organized, steady-handed, and process-driven
✔ A confident communicator who can bridge leadership and departments
✔ Experienced in professional services environments with structured leadership models

Candidates without law firm experience will not be considered.

What You’ll Be Doing

Board of Directors Support

  • Develop and coordinate agendas and materials for Shareholder and Board meetings
  • Set and manage annual firm calendars
  • Coordinate bonus pool estimates and financial planning timelines
  • Oversee annual Board elections
  • Execute post-meeting follow-up with Managing Shareholder

Managing Shareholder Partnership

  • Serve as a strategic operational partner to the Managing Shareholder
  • Draft and review firmwide leadership communications
  • Assist with lateral hire offer development
  • Maintain employment records and attorney data
  • Provide performance reporting and firmwide operational analytics

Department Chair & Shareholder Support

  • Act as liaison to resolve internal operational and administrative concerns
  • Support case intake systems and client relations processes
  • Compile and distribute monthly and annual contribution reports
  • Ensure departments are aligned with firmwide strategic goals

Salary commensurate with candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
