General Manager – Construction / Manufacturing

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for leading the overall operations, financial performance, and strategic growth of the business. This role oversees day-to-day operations across production, project management, estimating, sales, purchasing, fabrication, field operations, and customer service while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The General Manager provides leadership to department managers, drives operational excellence, and develops long-term relationships with customers, vendors, and employees to support continued growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of daily operations, including manufacturing, fabrication, project management, field operations, estimating, purchasing, and customer service.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and profitability.
  • Manage budgets, financial performance, forecasting, and overall P&L responsibility.
  • Oversee production schedules, project execution, quality control, and on-time delivery.
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and strategic partners.
  • Review contracts, proposals, estimates, and project performance to ensure financial and operational success.
  • Improve operational processes, inventory management, procurement strategies, and workflow efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify growth opportunities, capital investments, and long-term business objectives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leadership experience within construction, manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial operations.
  • Proven experience managing multiple departments, including operations, production, project management, sales, purchasing, or estimating.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, manufacturing operations, fabrication, project delivery, and supply chain management.
  • Experience managing budgets, financial reporting, forecasting, and P&L performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop employees, and build a positive, results-driven culture.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer relationship management and business development experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, project management software, and production reporting tools.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in glass, glazing, architectural metals, doors and hardware, specialty construction products, or other fabrication/manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, estimating, procurement, inventory management, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience is a plus.
