Job Description

🐾 Veterinarian – Ownership Opportunity in Rural South Dakota

For over 45 years, this family-owned mixed-animal practice has been the heartbeat of its rural South Dakota community — a place where people wave on the road, clients bring homemade cookies to say thank you, and generations of farmers and families have trusted the same clinic with the care of their animals.

Now, this well-respected, multigenerational practice is looking for its next leader — an experienced veterinarian with both skill and heart, ready to take the reins and carry the legacy forward.

About the Practice

This is a true mixed-animal practice: roughly 65% large animal and 35% small animal, with steady growth on the companion side. You’ll work with cattle (both beef and dairy), horses, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats. The clinic provides both haul-in and ambulatory care and even manages two local dairies — one with 1,700 cows, another with 900.

The facility is bright, spacious, and thoughtfully maintained, featuring:

  • Modern equipment including digital x-ray, ultrasound, IDEXX in-house lab, and electronic records

  • Hydra-covered corrals, calf crates, and a dedicated surgical suite

  • A fully stocked truck for mobile calls

  • A loyal, cooperative client base that truly values their veterinarians

The team is small but mighty — some staff members have been here over 20 years, others are newer and excited to learn. Together, they make up a supportive, close-knit group that believes in teamwork, respect, and community care.

Who You Are

You’re an experienced (5+ years) veterinarian who loves both large and small animal work — but even more than that, you have an entrepreneurial spirit. You’re not just looking for another job; you’re looking for a place to invest in, grow with, and someday call your own.

You value relationships and want to make an impact in a community that will appreciate your dedication. You take pride in your craft and enjoy variety — from herd health visits to puppy checkups.

What’s Offered

  • A path to ownership in a respected, profitable mixed-animal practice

  • A stable, skilled support team and loyal clientele

  • Balanced schedule: Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Saturdays 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

  • Flexible on-call rotation based on your needs

  • A welcoming rural community just 35 minutes from a major city

This is more than an opportunity — it’s an invitation to build a legacy of your own in a place where your work truly matters.
