Job Description

The Commercial Construction Assistant Project Manager (Multi-family) provides assistance for the execution of successful outcomes on ground up commercial and/or light industrial projects. The Assistant Project Manager communicates between the Project Manager and the job site with a focus on the customer, utilizing open communication, setting clear direction, and establishing high levels of expectations.

Assistant Project Manager Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with Estimating during the Preconstruction phase.
  • Responsible for assisting with coordination all aspects and phases of the ground up construction project including collaborating with Estimating during the Preconstruction phase.
  • Assists with monthly project financial forecast reporting, and owner billings.
  • Assists with forecast and mitigate risk, managing company's exposure.
  • Assists with the review and negotiation of owner contracts, subcontracts, and proposals.
  • Responsible for forecasting project staffing needs for self-perform work.
  • Develop and maintain CPM schedule and lead construction operations to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, and project QA/QC.
  • Evaluate progress and prepares executive project reports for company and owner groups.
  • Assist in permitting processes per specific project needs.
  • Leads project constructability reviews/plan checks, and associated documentation.
  • Contract administration, periodic onsite observations of work, and monitoring of drawing compliance.
  • Responsible for assisting with the project close-out process.

Assistant Project Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction science/management or engineering prefered
  • 3-5 years commercial construction ground up project engineer / assistant project manager experience.
  • Strong leadership, time management, problem solving and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of construction methods materials and management principles.
  • Fluency with construction scheduling and project management software.
