Insurance Defense Attorney (Dual License in IN/IL preferred. Not required)

We are seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney with 3–5 years of litigation experience to join a well-established and growing defense practice. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse caseload involving complex liability matters while enjoying a high degree of autonomy, strong support resources, and flexible remote work arrangements.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling insurance defense matters, including case evaluation, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances. Attorneys will manage cases from inception through resolution while working closely with clients, carriers, and experienced litigation professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from assignment through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Handle written discovery, depositions, and witness preparation.
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
  • Evaluate liability and damages issues and provide timely reporting to clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, claims professionals, and litigation support staff to develop case strategies.
  • Participate in negotiations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Indiana.
  • 3–5+ years of insurance defense or civil litigation experience.
  • Admission in IL is strongly preferred.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions.
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.
  • Excellent communication and client service abilities.
