Civil Litigation Attorney

Plaintiff or Defense

A respected and growing law firm is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney with approximately 4–8 years of experience to join its litigation practice. The firm is open to attorneys with plaintiff-side, defense-side, or mixed litigation backgrounds, and welcomes candidates whose experience spans additional practice areas, provided they bring a strong foundation in civil litigation.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and substantive civil matters, with meaningful responsibility and direct client involvement. Depending on background and interests, the attorney may handle cases through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediation, and trial.

The ideal candidate is a strong advocate with sound judgment, excellent writing and analytical skills, and the ability to manage cases with increasing independence. The firm values attorneys who are adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable stepping into matters outside a narrow practice silo when needed.

Qualifications

  • Approximately 4–8 years of civil litigation experience

  • Background in plaintiff-side, defense-side, or mixed litigation

  • Experience managing cases through multiple stages of litigation

  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team

  • Openness to supporting related practice areas as needed

Compensation Structure

Compensation is competitive and performance-driven, with structures tailored to career stage.

  • Associate Attorneys receive a competitive base salary, with the opportunity for additional discretionary performance-based compensation tied to individual contribution and firm results.

  • Principal/Partner Attorneys are compensated under a formula-based model, including a regular draw aligned with expected revenue and periodic performance-based payouts.

Overall compensation is tied to fees collected, recognizing both business origination and matter responsibility, with opportunities for increased earnings based on productivity and contribution.
