Job Description

Job Title: Oil & Gas Litigation Attorney
Location: San Antonio, TX

I am working directly with the leadership of a highly regarded, nationally recognized law firm with a deep presence in the energy sector. The firm is seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Litigation Attorney (10+ years) to join its San Antonio office at the Of Counsel or Partner level.

This role is designed for a seasoned trial attorney who wants to operate at a high level within a sophisticated energy litigation platform. You will handle complex, high-stakes disputes involving upstream and midstream operations, working alongside respected trial lawyers in a collaborative but autonomous environment.

The firm offers a strong infrastructure, a consistent pipeline of high-value matters, and the ability to focus on substantive litigation without requiring a portable book of business.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage complex oil & gas litigation matters from inception through trial or resolution
  • Serve as first-chair trial counsel in jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations
  • Handle disputes involving royalty and mineral interests, lease interpretation and termination, joint operating agreements, and upstream/midstream contract disputes
  • Oversee case strategy, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and expert coordination
  • Interface directly with clients, including operators, working interest owners, and energy companies
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced litigators while maintaining significant autonomy over your docket

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of oil & gas litigation experience
  • Proven first-chair trial experience across jury trials, bench trials, and/or arbitration
  • Deep familiarity with oil & gas industry disputes and contractual frameworks
  • Ability to independently manage a litigation docket at a high level
  • Strong advocacy, writing, and client-facing skills
  • Licensed in Texas (or eligible for admission)

A portable book is not required, though it is welcome and will be supported.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + performance bonus
  • Full healthcare coverage for employee + 50% dependent coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • 3 weeks PTO + 10 firm holidays
  • Bar dues, licensing fees, and CLE fully covered (including travel and lodging)

Why This Role
This is a high-level opportunity for an accomplished Oil & Gas Litigation Attorney who wants to handle sophisticated energy disputes, maintain courtroom exposure, and align with a firm that is deeply embedded in the industry without the pressure of immediate business generation.
