Underground Utility Superintendent
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Underground Utility Superintendent to oversee field operations for commercial and municipal underground utility construction projects. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing water, storm, and sanitary sewer piping installations while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily field operations for underground utility construction projects
- Supervise crews, subcontractors, and equipment on commercial and municipal job sites
- Coordinate installation of water, storm, and sewer utility systems
- Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within project requirements
- Read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, and specifications
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, municipalities, and general contractors
- Monitor project productivity, quality control, and site safety compliance
- Schedule labor, materials, and equipment to support project timelines
- Conduct site meetings, safety talks, and progress updates
- Identify and resolve field issues in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Experience supervising underground utility construction projects required
- Strong background in water, storm, and sanitary sewer piping installation
- Experience with commercial and municipal utility projects preferred
- Knowledge of excavation, trench safety, utility coordination, and site logistics
- Ability to read and interpret utility plans and specifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage crews and maintain project schedules in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license required
- OSHA certifications or additional safety training preferred
