Construction Inspector – Civil / Roadway / Bridge (INDOT Projects)
Now hiring a Construction Inspector to support roadway, bridge, and municipal utility construction projects across Indiana. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in civil engineering, construction inspection, or field testing who want hands-on involvement with INDOT projects and public infrastructure.
Job Summary
As a Construction Inspector, you will perform field inspection, construction observation, and documentation for transportation and utility projects. You’ll work closely with contractors, engineers, and project teams to ensure compliance with INDOT standards, construction specifications, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform construction inspection on roadway, bridge, and utility projects
Prepare Daily Work Reports documenting progress, materials, and site conditions
Interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance verification
Conduct field measurements, calculations, and documentation per INDOT standards
Identify and report non-compliant construction work; assist with RFIs
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and survey teams to resolve field issues
Support construction materials testing and inspection (concrete, asphalt, earthwork, utilities)
Qualifications
INDOT Cerified Technician or the ability to obtain
3+ years of construction inspection or civil field experience
Knowledge of highway construction, INDOT specifications, and inspection procedures
Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, or utility construction
