This role is built for a hands on Quality Engineer who wants ownership, not paperwork. You will lead quality performance for key customers, drive improvement, and ensure processes hold up in demanding, tight tolerance environments.
What you will do
• Build and improve measurement methods using CMM, surface finish tools, and precision gaging
• Ensure gaging aligns with GD and T standards
• Create FMEAs, control plans, PPAPs, and process flows• Support APQP from prototype through production
• Drive compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards
• Lead internal, customer, and third-party audit readiness
• Solve quality issues using 8D, 5 Whys, and root cause methods• Work with production and engineering to reduce variation and improve Cp and Cpk
• Communicate directly with customers on quality issues and corrective actions
• Support supplier quality, audits, and incoming inspection improvements
What matters
• 3 to 5 plus years in quality engineering within machining, aerospace, or defense
• Strong CMM experience, PC DMIS or similar
• Deep understanding of GD and T
• Proven work with FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and control plans• Experience with SPC and capability studies
• Ability to lead structured problem-solving
Nice to have
• Six Sigma Green Belt• Minitab or similar statistical tools
• Experience with special processes like plating or heat treating
• ERP or MES quality systems experience
